Mac ("we," "our," or "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address and password (stored securely via Back4App).

Health & Nutrition Data: Meals, macronutrient intake, water logs, weigh-ins, and goal profiles you enter into the app. This data is stored locally on your device and optionally synced to our cloud backend for backup and cross-device access.

HealthKit Data: With your permission, we read step counts, active calories, and workout data from Apple HealthKit. We never write to HealthKit or share this data with third parties.

AI Coach Conversations: Messages you send to the AI Nutrition Coach are processed by OpenAI's API to generate responses. We do not store conversation content on our servers beyond what is needed for the active chat session.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide nutrition tracking, goal-setting, and AI coaching features
  • To sync your data across devices when cloud backup is enabled
  • To send optional push notifications (meal reminders)
  • To process subscription purchases

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

  • Back4App (Parse): Cloud data storage and user authentication
  • OpenAI: AI-powered nutrition coaching. Messages sent to the coach are processed by OpenAI's API subject to OpenAI's Privacy Policy
  • Open Food Facts & USDA FoodData Central: Food and nutrition database lookups
  • Apple StoreKit: In-app subscription management

4. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored locally on your device using SwiftData. If cloud sync is enabled, data is encrypted in transit and stored on Back4App's secure servers. Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text.

5. Your Choices

  • You can disable cloud sync at any time in the app settings
  • You can revoke HealthKit permissions in your device's Settings app
  • You can export or delete your data using the Export & Import feature
  • You can delete your account by contacting us

6. Children's Privacy

Mac is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or by email.
